How To Use YouTube To Market Your Lingerie Store

Social media marketing can be a minefield when you first start out.

If, as a lingerie store owner, you’ve mastered Instagram, Facebook, and even Twitter, there’s another platform that you may want to consider: YouTube. 

Here’s how to start if you want to use YouTube to market your store effectively:


1.  Start your channel

The first thing that you need to do is start your YouTube channel. If you’re completely new to this platform, it may sound a little intimidating. It doesn’t have to be. The truth of the matter is that starting a channel on YouTube is strikingly straightforward. First of all, go to the website and sign into your current account (if you don’t have one, now is a great time to make one). Then click on your channel list and then ‘create new channel.’

You will then be given a chance to create a name for your lingerie store’s channel. Of course, the most obvious name that you should use is the name of your store. However, if you can’t get that, you could edit it. Adding ‘team’ to the end of the name or even ‘HQ’ will help you to make a channel that is identifiable to your following. Add a branded picture and a background to your profile and you’re up and running!


2.  Create an introduction video

Now, it’s time to tell people what you’re all about. Your introduction video will go on your main channel page of YouTube. When people visit your channel, it’s the first thing that they will see and it should give them a brief overview of what your channel is about. Here are some of the things that you should include in this initial clip:

  • Who are you and what do you offer?
  • Where are you located?
  • What’s your main website?
  • What content can viewers expect?

Regarding that last piece of information, you should already have a clear idea of what viewers need to expect from you. Take the time to consider what type of content you can offer. It pays to consider a wide range of options. You could always offer behind the scenes videos, lingerie style tutorials, and general fashion advice. Map out what you intend to do.


3.  Find the perfect set

Before you start filming clips, you need to make sure that your setting is correct. Of course, you may not have all the professional equipment right now. Filming the videos in the store could be the way to go. You can create a background that includes your products as a display and stand in front of it as you talk. If you intend to grow your audience, however, it could be worth investing in some professional gear for this arm of your marketing.


4.  Make Q&A style videos

Some of the most popular styles of videos on YouTube are Q&A ones. These are ones in which the presenter (or YouTuber) answers a variety of questions. Usually, these will be about themselves. Since you’re a brand, though, you need to consider what viewers want to know about you and what valuable information you can give them.

Ask your following to submit questions about lingerie for this video online. When they have done so, you can impart expert advice on the topics they want you to cover.  


5.  Stay on top of trends

The YouTube platform is always changing! When you first start out, it is a savvy move to stay on top of what other channels are doing. You will likely notice that there are many trends online. Whether you follow them on behalf of your lingerie store is completely up to you. It pays to know about them, though. Take a little time to research other stores and what types of videos they offer. You may just find that you get some inspiration.


6.  Share your videos online

Needless to say, when you first begin making videos on YouTube, you’re unlikely to have a following on the site itself. You’re new to the platform so why would you? You can get around this problem relatively easily. If you already have a wealth of Facebook or Instagram followers thanks to your social media marketing, now is the time to use them.

Post links to your videos on Facebook so that you can promote them. Equally, you could put a link to your YouTube channel in the bio of your Instagram account and direct people there. Tell people about it in your next newsletter as well and be sure to include a link to it. Do whatever you can to raise awareness for your new channel!
